In Saudi Arabia, women human rights defenders who campaigned in support of the right of women to drive are still detained by authorities, even though the ban on women drivers was officially lifted on June 24, 2018.
This new law is a great victory, in a country where women still do not have the right to travel on their own, or to marry or obtain a passport without the consent of a male family member.
