Title borrowed from the novel by Czech writer Jaroslav HASEK (1883-1923). Published in 4 tomes between 1921 and 1924, this absurd and satirical novel criticises military feat and the absurdity and carnage of wars. It features a Czech soldier with cretin enthusiasm during World War I.
